Q) What are the advantages of Siding-Master™ over nailing or stapling siding?

A) There are over 2,000 nails hammered into each home’s exterior walls in an average siding installation (approx 1600 sq. ft.). It is nearly impossible to avoid improper nailing. Improper installation is the #1 problem in the vinyl siding industry. The Siding-Master™ system allows panels to float over imperfect or warped walls, which straightens the appearance of walls and leaves a professional finish, without the mess of nails.

heat-distortion

When installed without Siding-Master, siding can be warped or distorted due to heat.

Siding-Master™ allows siding panels to move more than nailing or stapling, so they can expand and contract naturally, reducing warping. Also, the gap created by Siding-Master™ forms a rain screen to improve energy efficiency and reduce the chances of heat distortion of vinyl siding.

Q) How does Siding-Master™ improve the appearance of the siding?

A) The Siding-Master™ system allows panels to float over imperfect or warped walls, straightening the appearance of walls. It also allows siding panels to expand and contract, reducing warping, and allowing siding to cool, which reduces the chances of heat distortion.

Since Siding-Master™ controls where the siding panels are installed, panels remain level and straight. The Fast-Start™ Starter Strip/Foundation Cap and Fast-Finish™ Trim Adaptor create straight and clean edges at the start and finish of the siding installation, making the siding look great from top to bottom.

Q) Should a rain screen be used with vinyl siding?

A) Yes, rain screens are recommended for use with all exterior wall coverings. Condensation can form and wind-driven moisture can get behind any exterior wall covering. This creates a risk for the walls dry-rotting. With a rain screen, like Siding-Master™, the moisture can drain from behind the exterior wall covering, preventing dry-rot.

Q) Will Siding-Master™ reduce cooling costs?

A) Siding-Master™ allows the air behind the siding to thermally convect. This reduces heat gain, keeping the building cooler, and lowering cooling costs.

Q) Can Siding-Master™ be installed over thick foam?

A) Yes, Siding-Master™ can be installed over almost any wall type, including thick foam. Today walls are being superinsulated, which can make it challenging to install vinyl siding. To install Siding-Master™ over thick foam, simply use longer screws to attach the strips to the exterior walls, and attach the vinyl siding to the strips—no nails needed.
